Time To Get Obama’s Back?

Voter turnout in Philadelphia is a key to Democrats’ hopes in both the Senate and governor’s race Tuesday, and both sides know it. Much of the direct mail I get in Germantown is aimed at African American Voters. The flier above from the NAACP’s Voter Fund says it’s “time to get President Obama’s back,” and stokes the turnout fire by reminding voters of attacks on Obama’s background and patriotism.

Meanwhile, our friend Pete DeCoursey at Capitolwire.com reports that Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Corbett told a GOP luncheon he hopes Philly Democrats stay home. He said Democratic party leaders are counting on a 50% turnout in Philadelphia.

“But we want to make sure that they don’t get 50%, keep that down, but we want to get 100 percent all across the state,” Corbett said. The remark has provoked condemnation by Democrats. You can see Corbett’s remarks at the Delaware County Daily Times site. Select the video at the bottom with Corbett’s image.
