Three plead guilty to manslaughter in ballpark beating death

Three men have pleaded guilty in the 2009 beating death of David Sale Jr. outside Citizens Bank Park.

Francis Kirchner, Charles Bowers and Jim Groves pleaded guilty to manslaughter today, Action News reports, after a judge declared a mistrial last month following unexpected witness testimony.

Kirchner originally face first-degree murder charges, while Bowers and Groves were on trial for third-degree murder. They’ll be sentenced Dec. 20 and face up to two decades behind bars.

Sale was beaten to death after an argument between the three suspects and his own friends that started at a Phillies game.
