Three people rescued from Schuylkill River after drunken ladder stunt in Roxborough

Three people were rescued from the Schuylkill River in Roxborough early this morning.

Philadelphia Police say a 20-year-old man fell into the water at 12:15 a.m. after attempting to climb a ladder in the woods near Shawmont Avenue and Nixon Street.

Police say he was drinking with his two friends at the time. One friend called 911 before they both jumped into the frigid water to try to save him.

The three people were soon pulled from the water by a rescue team and taken to Einstein Hospital. Police say everyone is in stable condition.
