Thousands expected for Delmarva Chicken Festival

Thousands of people are expected to turn out for an annual festival celebrating the Delmarva region’s poultry industry.

The 63rd Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held Friday and Saturday at The Centre at Salisbury in Salisbury.
The highlight is a 10-foot frying pan with an 8-foot handle. At last year’s event in Georgetown, Del., organizers said more than 2,000 chickens were fried in the pan.

The chicken festival began in Georgetown in 1948 as a way to showcase Delmarva’s poultry industry and moves through towns in the region.
