Thanksgiving travel crashes tick up in Pa.

    State police report 13 fatalities related to 1,124 vehicle crashes over the busy five-day Thanksgiving holiday in Pennsylvania.

    Pennsylvania State Police responded to more than 100 additional crashes this year compared to the same five-day period in 2011.Ten fatalities were reported in 1,007 crashes last year.

    The Thanksgiving holiday marks one of the busiest travel periods of the year. AAA Mid-Atlantic projected 1.6 million Pennsylvanians would travel 50 miles or more away from home over the holiday weekend, between Wednesday and Sunday.

    The crash figure does not include accidents investigated by local police departments.
