Teen held for trial in Strawberry Mansion rec center shootings

Amir Jamal, 18, will face trial for the late July shooting that left a man dead and three children injured in Strawberry Mansion.

Jamal was identified in court yesterday as the shooter by Lamar Morris-Taylor. As the Daily News reports, Morris-Taylor, 14, pointed Jamal out as the one who pulled the trigger at Mander Rec Center, killing Morris-Taylor’s father.

The incident allegedly began with an altercation involving Morris-Taylor, who then went home and returned to Mander with his parents and siblings. When Morris-Taylor readied for a fight, encouraged by his father, the teen was swarmed by a group and 30-year-old Nyeme Taylor was shot multiple times.

The three children injured in the violence are recovering from their wounds.
