TAG hosting budet form to discuss School District’s financial needs

Questioning budget proposals from the School District of Philadelphia and Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett, the Teacher Action Group, ACTION United and Education Not Incarceration-Delaware Valley will hold a community budget forum tomorrow.

City Controller Alan Butkovitz; State Rep. James Roebuck, Democratic Chair of the House Education Committee; the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers and the Education Law Center will be on hand to discuss the District’s needs in the public forum.

“As a participant you will have an opportunity to have your voice heard, offer solutions, and make an appeal for essential services. Your input will not be locked away in a closet somewhere in 440,” TAG’s Joe Ciesielsk writes for the Public School Notebook.

Ciesielsk cites severe state cuts to the District, plans to move forward with Imagine2014 and Corbett’s increased budget for the Department of Corrections as reasons why the forum is so important.
