Suspect arrested in connection with Cedarbrook armed robberies

Philadelphia Police announced Tuesday that a suspect has been arrested on charges connected to a series of armed robberies in the city’s Cedarbrook section.

Antoine Johnson, 30, of the 1500 block of Mount Airy Ave., has been charged with robbery, prohibited possession of a firearm and related offenses in connection with a series of cases occurring between May 16 and June 13.

According to police reports, Johnson allegedly entered several businesses with a handgun demanding money. A 14th District police officer recognized the suspect as a neighorhood resident from video surveillance and contacted the Northwest Detective Division.

Johnson’s bail was set at $150,000 on Thursday afternoon and a preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for July 10.
