Super Bowl bound

It’s a fairytale ending for two hard luck Philadelphia youth football teams trying to make their way to their league’s promised land.

Mayor Nutter announced this morning that several generous organizations have stepped up to help send the North Philly Blackhawks and Frankford Chargers to the Super Bowl tournament in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Here’s the breakdown

    Philadelphia Eagles: $10,000
    Mitchell & Ness: $5,000
    VILLA: $5,000
    Comcast: $4,000
    Bowman Kavulich, Ltd.: $500

The money will help fill in the cost for the two teams above and beyond what parents and individual donors have cobbled together.  Stay tuned to WHYY-FM for more from reporter Lizz Fiedler later this afternoon.
