Summer of Peace initiative ends with community cookout

    The Summer of Peace initiative will end today, like most other summer events. The seasonal program led by Pa. Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams will culminate with a large cookout in Southwest Philadelphia’s Eastwick Park.A free event from 11 to 4, the barbecue will include food, music and kids’ activities, plus “Lifeguard on Duty” awards to those who’ve stepped up to help the Southwest Philly community.The Summer of Peace replaced the decades-long Neighbor to Neighbor Street Festival held annually on Baltimore Avenue.
