State Rep. Cherelle Parker co-hosts annual Thanksgiving luncheon in West Oak Lane

About 100 Northwest Philadelphians seniors came out on Tuesday to Upper Room Missionary Baptist Church for an annual Thanksgiving meal co-hosted by state Rep. Cherelle Parker and Kitchen of Love.

Macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, string beans, roasted potato, turkey ham, stuffing, turkey and all sorts of cake and pies were served at the church located at 7267 Ogontz Ave. in West Oak Lane.

As Sharlene Waller, director of the West Oak Lane Senior Center described the offerings, “It is a nice, hot and healthy meal.”

WOLSC staffer Cathy Brown said the annual event is a great one.

“The luncheon is a blessing,” Brown said, “especially for seniors who are not in the position to fix a meal for themselves for Thanksgiving.”
