Kicking off 2011 with a splash

It’s not what most people would think to do on New Year’s morning, but a few brave souls were courageous enough to try.  A dozen people from the Roxborough community dragged themselves out of bed, put on their favorite bathing suits, or a banana costume in one case, and jumped into an ice cold pool.  It was the first annual Roxy Plunge at the Roxborough YMCA on Ridge Avenue. The water was lowered to a frigid temperature in the mid-60s for the occasion.  NewsWorks Correspondent Howard Pitkow was there for all of the action.  Check out his video (above) and photo slideshow (below).
