Starbucks comes to the Wilmington Riverfront [video]

The Wilmington Riverfront continues to see growth from not only local businesses, but popular national brands people are sure to recognize.

“We are excited to be a partner in the continuing development of the Riverfront and strongly believe in the future development of this area,” said Mark Parsons of Starbucks Corp.

On Friday, the Buccini/Pollin Group, a top developing firm along with city leaders celebrated the opening of the 20th Starbucks store in the state. The new store which employs 14 people is the second to open in Wilmington within a short time period.

“This is something that we have been working on for over a decade,” said Rob Buccini whose company is responsible for developing many residential and rental properties in the city.

According to Buccini, Starbucks is the perfect addition to the Riverfront. “Having Starbucks in our city, not that we don’t fully embrace all the local brands but it’s nice to augment our hometown pride and our hometown brands with some of the national chains. It really gives our community a stamp of approval,” Buccini added.

2015 is expected to be a busy year for the Riverfront where foot traffic is steady from new businesses and residential properties being built. In fact, representatives from the Buccini/Pollin Group promised new announcements are coming in the next few weeks.

Until then, Wilmington City Councilwoman Hanifa Shabazz encourages people to take note of some of the things happening in the Wilmington and enjoy them.

“Come to our city, walk through our city, remove the fear and see the great things that we are doing,” Shabazz said.
