St. Patty’s Day parade in Mt. Holly is Mar. 4
Downtown Mt. Holly will again host the Burlington County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Now in its 13th year, the celebration of Irish heritage will take place on Saturday, Mar. 4.
Broken Shillelaghs, Jamison Celtic Rock, Lia Fail Pipe band will be among the numerous musical participants. Irish step dancers, local civic groups, police and fire departments will also march in honor of Irish-American ancestry, led by this year’s Grand Marshall, Judyann McCarthy.
She will be joined by the parade’s Miss St. Patrick 2017, Mikayla Elizabeth Franklin.
Awards will be bestowed for a variety of “best in” categories, including Best Pipe Band, Best Marching Band, Best Irish Dance Group, Spirit of the Parade and Irishman of the Year.
An official parade after-party will take place in a heated tent behind the reviewing stand (corner of High and Washington Sts.) with live musicians and dancers performing on two stages, plus Irish food and beverages.
Mt. Holly’s pub, The Local, will also be hosting a post-parade Beer Fest, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring 10 pours from 15 local craft breweries. General admission tickets cost $35.
As always, the annual 5K run and 1-mile family fun walk takes place two hours before the parade sets off. The course runs through the historic downtown. Online registration cost $40 and benefits the town’s recreational programs.
