St. Joe’s coach Martelli tells basketball team they’ll play in short shorts
We sense a team calendar shoot coming on.
It’s week two of Yahoo!’s “Blindsided” series, in which coaches and players pull pranks on their teams so everyone on the web can get a laugh. It might be a tired theme, but it was rather enjoyable to watch St. Joe’s basketball coach Phil Martelli tell his team they’d be playing in short shorts.
The cameras captured the college players’ reactions as Martelli brought in a seamstress to fit the guys into their new above-the-knee shorts.
There was eye-rolling, sideways glances and a, “they’re super tight,” but the team had a laugh when Martelli told them the short uniforms were just a prank.
One thing’s for sure, Martelli’s got his players in line. No one said a word about not wearing the shorts, and some expressed gratitude for just being able to play at all.
