Speaking of fracking

The Nature Conservancy today released a report on the impacts of natural gas drilling and wind energy on forest fragmentation in Pennsylvania.

Many of the hundreds of Marcellus Shale natural gas wells in the state are in some of the most remote forests lands, including state and protected forests.

The Nature Conservancy’s report says that the impact so far has been modest. But that it could get huge.

In Marcellus Shale development alone the report expects 34,000 to 82,000 acres of forests to be cleared.
