South walkway along Benjamin Franklin Bridge to be closed Tuesday

You may have to slightly adjust your walking plans along the Benjamin Franklin Bridge this week, as the Delaware River Port Authority plans to temporarily close the south walkway Tuesday.

The DRPA says the walkway will temporarily close to allow for bridge work. While the southern portion will close, the northern portion will reopen, with walking hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The DRPA says the south walkway will remain closed until further notice with the exception of Saturday, December 31, when it will be back open for the day at 6 a.m. to allow walkers to view fireworks over the Delaware River.

Withe fireworks scheduled for 6 p.m., the walkway will remain open until 8 p.m.

If you plan to use the bridge’s north walkway, keep in mind the Fifth Street pedestrian tunnel is closed in Camden.
