Short staffed

    Shore Memorial Hospital announced today it will buy out and lay off more than 100 employees. The Somers Point, N.J. hospital told the Press of Atlantic City it’s taking “painful but necessary” steps.

    Forty-three non-union employees have accepted buyouts and an addition 31 have been layed off. Thirty-two union nurses will received layoff notices Monday. Unless the hospital reaches an agreement with the New Jersey State Nurses Association, those 32 nurses’ last day of work will be Jan 9.
