Shopping magazine says Philadelphia is 14th-best city for retail
When you’re making a best-of cities list that’s 25 destinations long, it’s no surprise Philadelphia is on there. There are only so many large cities to come by in the country, so not including us would be purposeful, right?
No worries there, because Philly is definitely on Lucky magazine’s list of The 25 Best Cities for Shopping. We came in at a respectable No. 14 between Boston and Houston.
Some stores got shout-outs, and the shopping magazine makes mentions of the city’s go-to neighborhoods, but the explanation for why we’re so great has little to do with quality or quantity:
“Most malls and shopping centers are a highway’s drive away, making the city itself a haven for pockets of small boutique shopping. Also, there’s no sales tax on clothing.”
No one’s calling us an obnoxious, fat, smelly or stupid city, so we’ll take that as a compliment, thank you.
