SEPTA will restore South Philly bus stops it consolidated for travel study

South Philadelphians, rejoice! The Route 47 bus stops SEPTA consolidated earlier this year in a travel time analysis will be restored.

Several stops along part of the route that runs from Olney to Whitman Square were eliminated with the idea being fewer stops = quicker travel.

That wasn’t the case, as PlanPhilly reports, so the stops are going back.
Only slightly more than half of riders said the Transit First consolidations improved their ride, possibly because the route passes by several stop sign intersections south of Market Street, requiring buses to stop regardless.

Up next: installing more transit-friendly traffic signals along bus Routes 6, 52, 60 and 66.
