SEPTA unveils “SEP-TAINABLE” program plan

First the hybrid buses, then talks of an electronic fare system and now . . . drum roll please . . . “SEP-TAINABLE.” SEPTA has announced the launch of its sustainability plan. It’s got an OK name and big ambitions.
The multi-page PDF document detailing the plan includes ridership and residential statistics from around the region, as well as SEPTA’s 12 overall goals.

    Among them are:

improve water use and pollutant discharge performance
    improve access to local food
    improve operating expense performance

The goals fall under three overarching themes: environmental, social and economic. You can follow the development of the plan on SEPTA’s site.
