SEPTA to roll out its route efficiency system

SEPTA’s tour 47 bus performs at a less than 75 percent on-time rate. It makes for a pretty  miserable experience for those who ride the whole route, riding through Center City between South Philadelphia and Olney. SEPTA is working to change that. And soon.

Beginning April 18, the Transit First system will run for six months as a pilot for other routes. PlanPhilly has the full details of the plan, which includes removing some stops, relocating stops to the far end of intersections and operating buses on a headway system that sends buses out every six minutes.

The changes are less expensive answers to more elaborate efficiency plans, and if successful, will be used on other routes.
