Seeya, White Pages

Remember a few months ago when you came home from work every day to find more phonebooks outside your door? Verizon is actually doing something about that.

Beginning next year, the Verizon white pages will be available in print by request only.

A unanimous vote from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has pushed the pages online in an effort to help Verizon Pennsylvania, Inc. go green.

While the consumer guide pages and governmental listings will still be printed, cutting back on the white pages distribution will reduce the approximately 12 million paper copies Verizon produces each year, according to a report from the Business section of the Inquirer.
