Search resumes for boy missing in Pennypack Creek

A 13-year-old boy is still missing after another child was rescued from climbed out of the rough waters of Pennypack Creek Monday afternoon. The search was set to resume Tuesday morning for Brandon Boyle.

His 11-year-old brother, Anthony, made it out of the creek, but after two hours of searching for his older brother, rescuers declared their effort a recovery mission in the area of Rowland Avenue and Rhawn Street. The search was later called off for the evening when the water became to rough for divers.

The boys had gone swimming with friends.

“If you saw the falls and the way it’s churning after all the heavy rains we had up north, it’s almost impossible for our divers,” 7th District Police Capt. Joseph Zaffino told reporters Monday. “We had to rescue one of our divers out of that churning water, that’s how strong the current is right now.”
