Sailboat strikes groin in Manasquan

    One person was injured this afternoon when a sailboat crashed into a groin in Manasquan.

    A New Jersey State Police Marine Division unit responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 p.m., NJ.com reported.

    Eyewitnesses told NJ.com that the boat was under engine power and the sailor appeared to be disoriented. 

    The man, believed to be in his 60s, appeared to sailing directly toward the shoreline, News 12 reported.

    The sailor was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a head injury, according to the television station.  

    JSHN contributor ‎Theresa Curto reported that lifeguards and good samaritans responded and aided the man. 

    The cause remains under investigation.
