Rutgers enhances brain, spinal research with donations

Donations will help Rutgers University hire a faculty chair for Alzheimer’s, stroke, and brain and spinal injury research.

A 1982 Rutgers grad and an anonymous donor each put up $1.5 million, according to the Star-Ledger.
Alumnus Greg Brown’s half is a gift from his company, Motorola Solutions, to pay tribute to his mother. She’s had dementia for 15 years. The anonymous donor’s matching gift is part of a $27 million challenge grant to create 18 endowed faculty chairs across academic disciplines at Rutgers.

The donation will create the Gregory Q. Brown Endowed Chair in Rutgers University’s Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience.

Brown is a member of the executive committee of Rutgers’ Board of Trustees and also a member of the Rutgers University Foundation Board of Overseers. He’ll be the keynotes speaker at Sunday’s commencement ceremony.
