Roxborough’s ‘sober school’ to begin classes this fall

Two years of planning will culminate in September when The Bridge Way School opens in Roxborough. Housed in the Mishkan Shalom Synagogue on Freeland Avenue, the school will be devoted entirely to students recovering from drug and alcohol abuse.

The Greater Philadelphia Association for Recovery Education is leasing the site from the synagogue, as NewsWorks’ Aaron Moselle reports, after long application and review processes with the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and Department of Licenses & Inspections.

Aaron talked to school representatives who explained the school’s goal to transition students back to traditional learning environments using unconventional schooling methods.
