Roxborough High School alumni hit the beach for 11th annual reunion

For the 11th year in a row, alumni of Roxborough High School are gearing up for a gathering at the Shore. Part reunion, part fundraiser, part party — OK, it’s mostly a party — the annual event brings together generations of RHS graduates for a day of fun and memories.

This year’s event will take place at Lighthouse Pointe in Wildwood, a first time at that location, though as in past years, it will raise money to benefit the school. For the first several years after its beginning in 2002, the reunion was held at Moore’s Inlet in North Wildwood, though it has made a few stops at different places since Moore’s closed in 2006.

Patti Brennan, one of the founders of the event, said over the years it’s become more than just a good time — proceeds from the event and its off-season fundraisers have purchased new uniforms for the Indians’ baseball and soccer teams, and the reunion committee now awards a scholarship to a Roxborough graduate.

The recipient of this year’s $1,000 scholarship is 2012 Roxborough graduate Kyle Narewski, the son and grandson of Roxborough High alumni. The scholarship is given in memory of Mary Ann Strunk Albright, a 1972 Roxborough graduate and one of the original organizers of the reunion, who passed away a few years ago from ovarian cancer, Brennan said.
