Roxborough resident buys historic Lower Merion property

Ralph Sposato could have a big task ahead of him. The Roxborough resident just purchased Lower Merion’s historic Smith Cottage for $75,000. And though Sposato and other bidders were able to do a walk-through, the property sold as-is without inspection.

Sposato hopes to renovate the home for a relative to inhabit, and said he anticipates renovation expenses to reach $100,000. The cottage rests within the Lewis J. Smith Park, though no longer part of the property after the auction.

The cottage, according to Mainline Media News, had to be released because it was originally purchased through open-space funding.
