Roxborough beer distributor invites customers to have a drink on them

While Main Street Manayunk is celebrating its wedding season-themed “Second Saturday” today, World Wide Beverage in Roxborough is honoring its loyal customers with a truly refreshing salute for a May afternoon – free beer.

The beer distributor’s customer appreciation barbecue is free and open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. today, as World Wide Beverage celebrates its two-year anniversary since owner John Betz acquired the property. Ryan Thomas has worked at World Wide Beverage and its previous owners for a total of six years. Thomas says the store has transformed with Betz’s ownership to offer a robust selection of craft beers.”I just put out an order for another 88 cases of craft beers,” Thomas says. “In the past year, I’m getting a lot of younger people who are a lot more interested in the craft companies. People are always requesting things and we order them for no extra charge.”Today’s barbecue includes a free tasting of craft beers from Victory, Stoudt’s, Magic Hat, Long Trail, Brooklyn Brewing Company and Flying Fish. They will also be raffling off glassware and beer cases.
