Roofers rescued from atop Pa. school amid heat

Several roofers had to be rescued from atop a Philadelphia-area middle school after one fainted while working in the hot sun as temperatures rose into the high 90s.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports medics and firefighters responded to Chichester Middle School shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday after a worker on the roof fainted.

Boothywn Fire Co. Deputy Chief Robert Powers says they found the roofer unconscious and took him down in a rescue basket. Crews then said another roofer needed assistance and a third roofer also had to be lowered to the ground in a basket. The fourth person got down on his own.

Three were taken to the hospital for treatment.
