Rochford resigns at Superintendent of Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has accepted the resignation of Superintendent Mary E. Rochford.

Her decision “was made in order to devote time to providing physical care for members of her family unable to do so on their own,” according to the statement released Monday by the diocese.

Rochford has been with the Office of Catholic Education since 1999 and has served as superintendent since 2008. Her resignation is effective June 30, and a search will take place for her replacement.
