Police have announced an arrest in a rape over the weekend in an apartment building in the Rittenhouse Square area of central Philadelphia.Capt. John Darby of the Philadelphia Police special victims unit said Tuesday that the 28-year-old man would face charges including rape, robbery, burglary and kidnapping.
Darby said a brief signal from a phone stolen from the victim led investigators to a south Philadelphia neighborhood, and they were then able to target a particular residence. The suspect was later arrested at a restaurant.
Police said the 26-year-old woman was returning home early Saturday when a man who had been riding a bicycle approached her from behind, forced her into her building and into her upstairs apartment, and assaulted her.
