Right NEast/Wrong NEast: We’d have a lot less work if Frankford and Wiss would just consolidate already

We actually considered ignoring this one because the mistake happens so frequently we wonder if anyone still cares. But we do, so someone else must!
A deadly shooting in Frankford claimed a teenager’s life over the weekend. If that wasn’t sad enough, imagine if you lived in Wissinoming and open the paper to read “Teen dead in Wissinoming shooting.”
That’s the thought that runs through our minds when we write up these Right NEast/Wrong NEast posts. We think, what if I lived in that neighborhood and the media is giving me wrong information about crime? That’s a big deal.
And so when we once again saw that Frankford and Wissinoming were being confused, we felt the need to call out Inquirer.
The 4800-block of Tackawanna Street is in Frankford. How do we know? It’s south of Bridge Street. It’s south of the Frankford Transportation Center. It’s in the 19124 zip code. For all those reasons and more, that block is not in Wissinoming.
Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
