Republicans doing better in in Pennsylvania statewide races
Consistent numbers in gubernatorial race and ups and downs in US Senate contest
A new Rasmussen poll shows the Republican candidates for Pennsylvania Governor and US Senator are leading their Democratic opponents.
The statewide telephone survey of likely voters shows Republican State Attorney General Tom Corbett with a 16% lead over his Democratic opponent: Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato.
Scott Rasmussen is the President of “Rasmussen Reports.”
“Almost every poll that we have done this year no matter who the Democrat has been that we put in as a potential challenger, Corbett has been somewhere around the 50% mark. One thing that we caution about especially early on when one candidate has a much higher level of name recognition you know he may get a boost in the polls and that may be part of what we’re seeing here. Also this is a difficult year for Democrats.”
In the US Senate race Republican Pat Toomey now leads Democratic Congressman Joe Sestak. A few weeks ago, it was the other way around. Rasmussen says the volatility shows that many voters are still getting to know Toomey and Sestak.
