Region has recovered $4 billion in six years

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Pennsylvania has recovered $4 billion since 2004. The majority of that comes from health fraud cases, and a quarter of the total was brought in from 2010 pharmaceutical cases.
AstraZeneca and Novartis were among the pharmaceutical companies that paid $520 million and $422.5 million, respectively. St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne paid $3,283,725 for improper billing.

“This office is dedicated to ensuring that individuals and companies comply with the law, and that government programs financed with American tax dollars are not taken advantage of unfairly,” U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger said in a statement.
