Reflections
Abington Township Manager Tom Conway has alrady begun the overlap period with his successor, Michael LaFevre. But as he prepares for his final days in the office, which he’s held for 19 years, Conway reflects on some of the major township events that’ve shaped his tenure.
A 1996 flash flood that killed two people led to a change in spending, with $30 million going toward flood control.
Similarly, the near-closing of the McKinley Fire Co. in the late ’90s. paved the way for budget management changes, which Conway has worked on since.
Conway also had a few pieces of advice for LaFevre, which he shared with the Glenside News Globe Times Chronicle.
