Reduced power at Hope Creek after recirculation pump shuts down

New Jersey’s Hope Creek nuclear reactor is operating with reduced power after a recirculating pump shut down yesterday afternoon.

Today’s Sunbeam reports the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been notified and the plant is operating at 55 percent power.

The pump recirculates water to the reactor to control how much power the reactor generates. It’s not clear what caused the shut down.
