Ramsey promises trial for year-old police discrimination suit

Here’s a story you should read in today’s Daily News.

A lawsuit filed last summer by Philadelphia Police Sgt. Kimberly Byrd rages on, and Commissioner Charles Ramsey says he won’t settle.

Byrd filed a discrimination suit against the city last year claiming it’s responsible for what she says was discrimination by Ramsey and other officers. Now on medical leave, Byrd says the demotions that came after former Commission Sylvester Johnson left (and the department gossip about her relationship with Johnson) have negatively impacted her career.

Ramsey said he’ll “make sure” the case goes to trial.
