Rally outside School District to support Ackerman

    A small group is rallying this afternoon outside 440 N. Broad St. in support of School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Arlene Ackerman.

    Led by Elder Pamela K. Williams, the group is demanding the following, according to NewsWorks partner the Public School Notebook:

     

    That District Chief Financial Officer “unlock” the District’s books and “let us see where the money is”That Mayor Nutter provide the District with $15 million in discretionary funds to “keep the Promise Academies open”

    Williams alleges SRC Chair Robert Archie, Mayor Michael Nutter and State Rep. Dwight Evans are pushing for Ackerman’s removal, while Nutter’s staff insists that’s not the case.
