Rail service considered between Boyertown and Pottstown

Pottstown will host a roundtable discussion next month to move forward on talks that aim to bring passenger rail service between the borough and Boyertown.

The Oct. 12 meeting will include a presentation on the history of the Colebrookdale Spur, which includes a 2010 lease signed by Berks County and Eastern Berks Gateway Railroad for the 8.6 mile stretch of rail line.

Berks-Mont News reports the borough-to-borough service would be used for economic growth for things like a western Montgomery County gateway, food and entertainment opportunities and special events.

County commissioners, borough managers, council presidents, main street managers and history and transportation respresentatives are all expected to attend the meeting next month.
