“Exhausted” 270 pound sea turtle rescued after stranding in Avalon [video]

A large sea turtle stranded along the shoreline early yesterday evening in Avalon.

The turtle was spotted by a man fishing on a jetty near 12th Street in the Cape May County municipality, according to a posting on the Seven Mile Times Facebook page

A Marine Mammal Stranding Center truck arrived after police were called, and a group helped carry the sea turtle into the vehicle.

According to a release from the non-profit Brigantine-based marine mammal rehabilitation facility, the 270-pound female loggerhead was “exhausted.”
