Public hearing today on possible revocation of Pencader charter

A public hearing is being held today on a committee’s recommendation to revoke the charter of a Delaware charter school.

Pencader Business and Finance Charter High School was cited by the Delaware Department of Education Charter School Accountability Commission for having “serious financial and governance concerns.”  The school responded by saying it is well on its way to addressing its financial difficulties, and that revoking the school’s charter would leave students and families searching for another school to attend in the middle of the summer.  The hearing begins at 5 p.m. (Wednesday) at the Cabinet Room of the Townsend Building, 401 Federal Street, Dover.  State Secretary of Education Lillian Lowery would consider testimony at the hearing as the Board of Education prepares to make its recommendation July 21st.
