Prosecutor: No cause for public alarm after 2 bodies found floating near Jersey Shore marina

    An investigation is ongoing after authorities recovered two bodies found floating near a Monmouth County marina Friday afternoon.

    A 911 call placed around 12:30 p.m. alerted police to a body floating in the Shrewsbury River near the Channel Club Marina in Monmouth Beach, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said in a release.

    Responding officers found the body of a man near the end of a marina dock, the release said.

    The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office responded to assist with the death investigation, which led to the discovery of a female in the same area.

    The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office and the New Jersey State Police also responded. 

    Authorities have not yet released the identities. Autopsies are scheduled for Saturday, the release said. 

    Prosecutors say there’s no cause for alarm.
