President’s former pastor visits Wilmington this month for August Quarterly

President Obama’s controversial former pastor in Chicago, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, will be part of Wilmington’s August Quarterly Jubilee Conference this month.

The event is being held August 26th at Mother African Union Church, 9th and Franklin Streets.  The Jubilee Conference is part of the August Quarterly week.  August Quarterly celebrates African American religious freedom and the contributions of pioneers such as Peter Spencer and the Union Church of African Members.  The last weekend of August will include a “Gospel Explosion” at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park.  Rev. Wright’s participation in August Quartly will be detailed today (Tuesday).  Rev. Wright became a focal point of controversy during the 2008 Presidential campaign when a few choice words from his sermons at Trinity United Church of Christ were repeatedly played.  CLICK HERE to find out more about August Quarterly.
