Prep work

Already having a panic attack of the possibly impending snow? PATCO and the Delaware River Port Authority have shared their plans for snow preparedness plans.

Bridges will be salted 48 to 72 hours before the predicted snowfall, and roads are salted when snowfall begins.
Plowing starts after an inch of accumulation.
Bridges will only close if there are dangerous icy conditions, but the Ben Franklin Bridge walkway will shut down if there’s heavy snow and/or ice.
PATCO lines get a special anti-freeze coating on the rails, and extra trains will run to keep the rails from icing up.
