Potatoes from train accident go to Delaware food bank

A large truckload of potatoes from a train accident won’t go to waste, instead the potatoes have been delivered to a Delaware food bank.

The accident happened Sunday when a tractor trailer slammed into a train carrying the spuds in Milford.

According to the Food Bank, crews with the Delaware Department of Transportation managed to salvage a large amount of the potatoes that spilled out onto Route 113.

Although many other potatoes had to be dumped, the Food Bank says its volunteers will spend the next few days sorting through the potatoes deemed fit for consumption.
