Post Stephen Starr: What will Philly restaurant scene look like?

With hundreds of restaurants to choose from in Philadelphia, 20 belong to restaurant mogul Stephen Starr.

With annual sales of $125 million last year, the long-time restaurateur has spent this past year launching five new restaurants across the city.

While Starr’s restaurants range in cuisine and style across the board, they have a high-end appeal and have shaped the Philadelphia restaurant scene. But as reported recently in the Philadelphia Business Journal—a partner of Newsworks—Stephen Starr has said he’s planning to take “a pretty long break in Philadelphia” and focus on new establishments in Washington, D.C., and New York City.

NewsWorks Tonight’s Dave Heller interviews Business Journal reporter Peter Van Allen about Starr’s impact on the Philadelphia restaurant scene and what the future holds for the the restaurant mogul and the city.
