Poll: Americans distrusful of Congress

Congress is the least trusted government entity, according to a new poll, with 57 percent of Americans “having little or no confidence in the nation’s legislative branch.”

The poll from the National Constitution Center and the Associated Press looks at Americans’ opinions of the nation and its current state.

One thousand people were polled between Aug. 18 and Aug. 22 about topics like civil rights, national security and health insurance. While 82 percent believe the feds shouldn’t be able to require everyone to buy health insurance and 61 percent (down from 73 percent) oppose giving the president more power over economic improvement, 54 percent still have confidence in the military.
