Police SWAT discovers man shot dead in West Mt. Airy

    A man who apparently died of a gun shot wound was discovered by Philadelphia Police SWAT team members early this morning in the city’s West Mount Airy neighborhood.

    The man, a 28-year-old, was found to be shot dead on the first floor of a home on the 100 block of Sharpnack Street.

    WPVI-TV reports police officers were initially called to the home on the report of an armed man who was inside.  When they arrived, two women were seen running out of the home.

    WPVI-TV says police surrounded the scene, and a short time later, the department’s SWAT team was called in.

    SWAT team members eventually entered the home, where they found the 28-year-old man. Another person was found hiding in the home. He was unharmed, according to the report.

    The man and the two women are being questioned by police.  Police are dealing with the incident as a homicide.
